The Firkin Four
The Firkin Four
TASTING NOTES:
Linkwood 2010 Madeira
- Rich & Delectable
They say quality counts, and this dram has my number! This is a seriously sensational whisky. The elegance of Linkwood, one of Speyside’s finest, marries perfectly with the glorious earthy oak and Madeira richness & raisin spice. Brilliantly rich and fruity notes complement the hint of toasty oak with exceptional balance. This dram lingers like a summer lover, complete with a lovely tingle of spicy oak. Simply Firkin delectable.
TASTING NOTES:
Dailuaine 2013 Oloroso & Amontillado
- Dreamy Soft & Herby
Another star is born! This really is something else. The oak and malt in combination are simply divine and shine through like sunshine on a heather speckled mountainside. Soft rich and herby on the palette, it finishes with a melting moment of light dried fruits and a subtle nuanced nuttiness. De-Firkin-licious.
TASTING NOTES:
Teaninich 2009 Oloroso & Pedro Ximenez
- Vivacious with Zing
Bright and lively with a myriad of fruit flavours, the herbal frehness of Teaninich rolls into the delicious dessert intensity of Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez sherries with a hint of anise. The beautifully balanced blend of rasin fruits and spicy oak makes it all quite singular. If zing is your thing then this dram is king. Truly Firkin Rare.
TASTING NOTES:
Caol Ila 2010 Marsala Cask
- Salty Peat & Smokey
Everything Islay and more. Salty enough to be pulled from the ocean. Peaty enough to be laying in the heather. Smoky enough to be fireside at Dunyvaig Castle. Variations on BBQ sauce smokiness, salty peppery peat, a dollop of Marsala sweetness and lingering layers of sweet oak add surprise to the familiarity. This dram makes time stand still, conjuring memories of the sweet, smoky hearths of home. An Absolute Firkin original.

A new approach to Malt Whisky
“Two maturation techniques set these guys apart from everybody else. They build their own double wood custom casks and then use a technique of soaking these casks with selected fortified wines called Soulmate pairing. This matches each whisky to a unique fortified flavour profile. Results are absolutely stunning whiskies’’
